    With a full-flow body design to minimize line turbulence and pressure drop, the Ball valve UltraPure features an encapsulated seat to protect against entrapment and contamination in biotech, pharmaceutical and personal care processes.

    To meet hygienic welding requirements, Ball valve UltraPure features ASME BPE, ISO 2037 and Series A/DIN weld ends and ASME BPE clamp ends.

    Standard encapsulated seat

    The seat reduces the risk of potential product entrapment in applications where hygiene is critical.

    COMPLETE PRODUCT RANGE

    The Ball valve UltraPure range comprises ASME BPE, DIN 11850 and ISO 2037 models in a full range of dimensions. The valves have a maximum operating temperature of 150°C and maximum operating pressure of 40 bar. The range is readily available with short delivery times.

    Equipment and components in the  UltraPure portfolio are supplied with Alfa Laval Q-doc, a comprehensive documentation package that provides full transparency of the entire supply chain, from raw material to final equipment delivery. This smoothes purchasing and installation procedures as well as facilitates qualification, validation and change control procedures. Based on GDP (Good Documentation Practice), Alfa Laval Q-doc covers every aspect of UltraPure equipment supply and provides customers with transparent and well-documented quality assurance of the sourced equipment.

  • CONSTRUCTION

    The valve consists of a 316L (CF3M9) steel valve body, PTFE valve seats, rotating ball, stem unit and stainless steel quarter-turn handle, stainless steel handle for manual operation, bushings for the disc stem and seal ring.

    OPERATING PRINCIPLE

    A precision-made rotating ball with a bore, or opening, is positioned inside the valve body between two flanges and two PTFE valve seats. To open or close the valve, manually rotate the handle by 90° to turn on or shut off the flow. External thrust springs maintain constant pressure on the stem seal. The robust design of the stem and seal eliminates misalignment and blowout.

    Shutter valve

    The MH shutter valve is suitable in applications with large partials, high viscous or strict requirements minimizing pressure loss.

  • APPLICATION

    MH Koltek valve is a manually or pneumatically operated valve, designed for use in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries where valves of sanitary design are needed.

    STANDARD DESIGN

    The valve consist of a rigid body with an internal cylindrical bore and 2 or 3 ports for pipe connection. The two lids have guide rings for an internal shaft which supports and positions the shutter.

    The stainless steel handle or the actuator is fitted to turn the shaft.

    The actuator consists a system of cylinders and one or two main pistons interconnected with a toothed bar which interacts with a gear wheel on the valve shaft. The system is insensitive to pressure shocks in the valve.

    The valve has welding ends as standard.

    LKUV-2 air-relief valves

    LKUV-2 air-relief valves are designed for use when removal of air from a process line without loss of product is a primary concern. These provide solid safety, efficiency and low cost of ownership for processing where hygiene standards are essential.

  • RELIABLE AIR RELIEF VALVE

    Alfa Laval LKUV-2 air-relief valves are automatic double-seat valves engineered to relieve excess air in industrial processing lines, thus preventing the negative effects of air entrainment. Vertically installed, LKUV-2 air-relief valves are ideal for use on the top of a pipeline or container or before a pump inlet, where the removal of air is required to maintain design pressure conditions.

    IMPROVED PROCESSING EFFICIENCY

    LKUV-2 air-relief valves help improve processing efficiency. By preventing air entrainment, the valves contribute to product integrity, energy efficiency and protection of pipelines and pump stations against the effects of pressure surges and water hammer.

    LKUV-2 AIR-RELIEF VALVE RANGE

    With a sturdy, bright finish stainless steel construction, the standard range of Alfa Laval LKUV-2 air-relief valves is available in various dimensions to meet most requirements. These valves are designed for maximum product pressure of 10 bar and temperatures up to 90°C (194°F).

  • CONSTRUCTION

    The Alfa Laval LKUV-2 air-relief valve consists of an upper valve body, lower valve body with welding stub, seal ring and polypropylene ball. The valve body is assembled by means of a clamp.

    OPERATING PRINCIPLE

    These automatic double-seat air-relief valves have a lightweight, freely moving polypropylene ball that closes against the upper or lower seat, depending on pressure conditions.

    When air pressure increases, the ball is forced off its seat, allowing excess air pressure to be vented to the atmosphere. When pressure is equalized, the ball is reseated on the lower valve seat, thus closing the valve.

    Sanitary ball valves

    Sanitary ball valves feature a full-bore design that enables full fluid flow with minimal pressure drop, making them ideal for handling viscous liquids or liquids containing particles in the food, beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

  • RELIABLE FULL-FLOW PERFORMANCE

    Alfa Laval sanitary ball valves (SBVs) are full-bore flow valves that provide on/off control with minimal pressure drop. The valve opening has a constant pipeline diameter, which enables fluids to flow freely through the valves when open. Flow restriction is comparable to that of a straight tube. This makes the SBVs suitable for:

    • Handling fluids that are viscous or contain solid, semi-solid or abrasive particles
    • Use wherever pigging of process lines is a major consideration
    • Applications that require gentle product treatment
    • CIP applications

    AUTOMATED OR MANUAL CONTROL

    For versatility, Alfa Laval SBVs can be supplied for manual or automatic operation.

    Manual operation: SBVs feature stainless steel quarter-turn handles to mechanically lock the valves in either open or closed position.

    Automatic operation: SBVs use standard maintenance-free pneumatic actuators. Actuated ball valves are delivered as normally closed (NC) valves that are controlled from a remote location by means of compressed air. These, however, can easily be rebuilt to a normally open (NO) configuration. Actuators can be fitted with Alfa Laval ThinkTop valve sensing and control units. Optional inductive proximity sensor and mounting bracket are available.

    COMPACT, SIMPLE BALL VALVE DESIGN

    Easy to build into most any process line, Alfa Laval SBVs feature a straightforward floating ball design, which guarantees a tight seal and permits axial movement while preventing rotation. They are water hammer-safe and completely insensitive to pressure shocks in the pipelines.

    Spring-loaded, self-adjusting seal rings provide highly reliable valve stem sealing. SBVs with automated control have inspection holes in the bonnet for easy inspection of the stem seal.

    EASY-TO-MAINTAIN BALL VALVES

    The three-piece valve design with few moving parts enables easy access to all valve components, making maintenance quick and easy. Durable PTFE valve seats help prolong service intervals. No special tools required for maintenance.

    SANITARY BALL VALVE RANGE

    The Alfa Laval sanitary ball valve range consists of two standard valve models.

    • SBV with either manual handle or automated operation for applications that involve high operating pressures up to 16 bar and temperatures up to 150°C, and where the use of pigging systems is required.
    • Tri-Clover® ball valves for applications that require full flow with minimal flow turbulence and pressure drop. An optional encapsulated seat is available for applications where reducing the risk of potential product entrapment is important.

  • CONSTRUCTION

    The Alfa Laval SBV sanitary ball valve consists of a valve body, two flanges, PTFE valve seats, ball, stem unit and either a handle for manual operation, or a bonnet and pneumatic actuator for automated operation. For quick and easy inspection and maintenance, the valve easily assembles and disassembles with welded-end flange screws.

    OPERATING PRINCIPLE

    A precision-made ball with a bore, or opening, is positioned inside the valve body between two flanges and two PTFE valve seats.

    Repeat samples

    One of the most important elements in building trust is the quality of the equipment used for taking samples. This equipment must ensure the ability to take repeat samples under sterile conditions – with no risk of secondary contamination.     LOWER DIAPHRAGM VALVE COSTS

    The Diaphragm Valve – Premium minimizes total cost of ownership for diaphragm valves. It cuts energy costs because the higher flow rate and lower pressure drop enable the use of smaller feed pumps, which require less electricity to operate.

  • CONSTRUCTION

    The Alfa Laval Unique Diaphragm Valve – Premium (DV-P) UltraPure is a hygienic diaphragm valve, which consists of a valve body, diaphragm, handle or actuator, and indication and control units. Its compact modular design enables a wide range of purpose-built configurations to meet various process requirements.

    OPERATING PRINCIPLE

    The DV-P is designed either for manual operation or for automatic operation.

    Manual operation

    The Diaphragm Valve – Premium is controlled by means of a handle.  A simple turn of the handle presses the diaphragm downwards, pushing it against the valve weir and thereby closing the valve.

    Pneumatic operation

    The DV-P is operated by means of compressed air using a pneumatic valve actuator. The pneumatic valve actuator controls the axial movement of a piston, opening or closing the valve depending on the actuator function.

    ENHANCED CLEANABILITY

    All Unique sampling valves feature a valve body made of a single piece of stainless steel, providing smooth, crevice-free surfaces. Because no welding is required, the risk of pore formation and cracking in the welds and subsequent risk of bacterial build-up is eliminated.

    Unique sampling valve – Single seat

    The Unique single-seat sampling valves are ideal for use in various applications. This standard valve can easily be upgraded to a Unique double-seat sampling valve with a convenient, easy-to-use upgrade kit.

    Single seated pneumatic actuator

    The single seated sampling valve with the pneumatic actuator ensures opening and closing of the valve.

    With the pneumatic actuator remote sampling is an option and for indication of the valves positioning an indication proximity switch, can be added.

     

    Unique sampling valve – Double seat

    Specially engineered, the Unique double-seat sampling valves are an excellent choice for use in applications where a higher cleanability is required. Patented technology ensures sterilization of the valve seat and channels, thus ensuring sampling precision and accuracy and guaranteeing representative sampling.

     

    Double seated pneumatic actuator

    The double seated sampling valve with the pneumatic actuator ensures total sterilization of the entire valve seat and channels.

    With the pneumatic actuator remote sampling is an option and for indication of the valves positioning an indication proximity switch, can be added.

    WARRANTY

    Alfa Laval provides a three-year warranty for all non-wearing parts,provided genuine parts are used.

    CERTIFICATION, SPECIFICATION AND STANDARDS

    All Unique sampling valves are designed, tested and approved according to EHEDG guidelines and certified to carry the 3-A symbol. All machined components are made of 3.1b certified AISI 316L. For more information, please consult the documentation provided.

  • CONSTRUCTION

    Unique sampling valves consist of a valve body, an actuator and membrane seal. The rubber membrane seal is placed on the stem of
    the actuator and functions as a stretchable plug. The valve bodies and
    actuators are interchangeable.

    PRODUCT RANGE

    Unique sampling valves are available as single- and double-seat
    sampling valves with working pressures up to 6 bar and maximum
    temperatures of 130 °C.

    Membrane seals are made of FDA-approved EPDM or silicone. Choice of manual or pneumatic actuators is available. Other options include types of valve bodies, connections, actuators and accessories.

    Sampling accessories

    Alfa Laval’s has a broad range of high quality sampling accessories to provide the food and beverage, personal care and biopharm industries with comprehensive sampling solutions. Alfa Laval provides accessories for sampling such as non-return valves, quick couplings, pressure relief valve for steam sterilization and the Alfa Laval Steam generator making it possible to steam sterilize in locations without permanent steam supply.

    OPERATING PRINCIPLES

    Unique single-seat sampling valves

    Designed for standard hygienic sampling, the single-seat sampling
    valve has two positions: open and closed. It can easily be upgraded to a
    double-seat valve by replacing the handle or actuator with an upgrade
    kit.

    Open position for sampling: To begin the sampling process, rotate the
    handle in a counter-clockwise direction to open the valve, if using an
    manual valve. If using a actuator, open the valve by activating the actuator. This retracts the valve stem and the membrane and enables the product to flow freely through the open valve.

    Closed position for sterilization: To stop the sampling process, rotate
    the handle in a clockwise direction to close the valve, if using a manual
    valve or shut the air connection, if using a pneumatic actuator.
    This shuts off the flow and makes the channel in between the connecting hoses available for sterilization. If steam is used for Sterilization-in-Place, Alfa Laval recommends the use of an optional pressure relief valve on the outlet.

    A new level of accuracy with patented new technology

    The design of single-seat technology poses challenges for complete
    sterilization. In closed position, the membrane seal comes into contact
    with the valve seat. These points of contact are virtually impossible to
    clean due to tight surface compression and may therefore accumulate
    product residue and microorganisms. For that extra level of security to
    ensure a more representative sample, Alfa Laval recommends double seat technology.

    UNIQUE DOUBLE-SEAT SAMPLING VALVES

    Designed for truly sterile sampling, the double-seat sampling valve has three positions: open, closed and sterilization.

    Open position:

    To begin the sampling process,
    Manual valve: rotate the handle in a counter-clockwise direction to open the valve.
    Pneumatic valve: supply air to the open connection.
    This retracts the valve stem and membrane seal and enables the product to flow freely through the open valve.

    Closed position:

    To stop the sampling process:
    Manual valve: Rotate the handle in a clockwise direction.
    Pneumatic valve: Shut off the supplied air to the open connection.

    Sterilization position:

    To set the valve in sterilization position,
    Manual valve: rotate the handle clockwise to the steam position.
    Pneumatic valve: apply air to the steam connection.
    This extends the valve heads inner spindle into the inner seat and stop product flow in the valve port. At the same time the valve heads outer spindle retracts and lifts the membrane seal away from its normal seat. Now it is possible to access the hard-to-reach areas on the seat surface, ensuring thorough sterilization and making the Unique double-seat sampling valve a solid and reliable choice to achieve 100% representative sampling.
